New Food Recycling Program reduces Garbage by 50%
The Malt Shop Restaurant has been recycling all of our waste cardboard, office paper and cans and bottles for many years. Now, we are also recycling all of our food waste from our kitchen and our dining room. We now collect all of our food waste in special containers and have contracted with a local farmer who picks up our food waste 2X/week. By separating our food waste from the rest of our garbage, we are able to reduce the amount of garbage we generate by 50% which is reducing our costs and helping the environment by saving gas- only 1 pickup/week instead of 2- and having 50% less trash going to the local incinerator.

The Malt Shop Restaurant Survived The Fire
On the afternoon of Thursday, February 18, 2010, a huge fire struck the corner of 50th and Bryant Ave So destroying the corner building and its 5 businesses. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the building and business owners and their staffs.
The building and business owners have expressed their desire to rebuild and reopen their businesses as soon as they can once the total damage caused by the fire has been assessed. We wish them all well.
Fortunately for us, The Malt Shop Restaurant was not damaged in the fire and we remain open for business. We look forward to serving you. |
